Crawford County Clerk of Courts

The Crawford County Clerk of Courts keeps all records for the Court of Common Pleas. This covers the General Division and Domestic Relations Division. Every pleading, motion, order, and judgment entry passes through this office. Staff handle filing, docketing, and preserving all court records. The office is in the courthouse at 112 E. Public records access is available during regular business hours. Standard copies cost $0.10 per page. Certified copies carry an extra charge on top of that. The office must hand them over at cost within a reasonable time. If denied, the Clerk must explain why in writing and cite the legal basis for the denial.

If you believe a denial was wrong, you can file a complaint with the Ohio Court of Claims for $25. You must give the office three business days to fix the problem before filing. The Court of Claims handles disputes between citizens and government offices over public records access.

Crawford County Probate Court Records

The Crawford County Probate Court is at 112 E. Mansfield Street in Bucyrus. It handles estates, guardianships, adoptions, marriage licenses, and name changes. Marriage licenses are issued Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The fee is approximately $50 to $75. No blood test or waiting period is required in Ohio. The license is valid for 60 days from the date it gets issued. Both parties must appear in person with valid photo ID.

Under ORC Chapter 2101, the probate judge has care and custody of all files, papers, books, and records in the probate court. The general docket must be available online for remote public access.
