Under ORC Chapter 3105, Ohio allows both fault-based divorce and no-fault dissolution. To file in Mahoning County, at least one spouse must have lived in Ohio for six months and in the county for 90 days.
The Mahoning County Clerk of Courts is the principal record keeper for the Court of Common Pleas, Domestic Relations Court, Court of Appeals, and the area courts. You can call them at 330-740-2104. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with doors locking at 4:15 p.m.
Mahoning County also has multiple area court locations throughout the county. These include courts in Boardman at 8110 Market Street (330-726-5546), Sebring at 606 East Ohio Avenue (330-938-9873), Austintown at 6000 Mahoning Avenue (330-740-2001), and Canfield at 72 North Broad Street (330-533-3643). These area courts handle misdemeanor and traffic matters, not family law cases. But they can issue temporary protection orders in criminal domestic violence cases.
Youngstown Municipal Court Records
The Youngstown Municipal Court handles criminal, traffic, and civil cases within the city. The court's mission is to ensure access to justice by resolving cases in a fair and impartial way. While the municipal court does not have jurisdiction over divorce or custody, it does process criminal domestic violence charges and can issue protection orders in those cases.

Juvenile cases in Mahoning County fall under ORC Chapter 2151. These records are generally not public and require a court order to access. Abuse, neglect, and dependency cases are handled by the Juvenile Division of the Court of Common Pleas in Youngstown. The court works with Mahoning County Job and Family Services to protect children and connect families to the help they need.
