Adams County Family Court Records Office

The Adams County Court of Common Pleas is the main trial court in the county. It has four divisions: General Division, Domestic Relations Division, Probate/Juvenile Division, and handles Court of Appeals cases. The Domestic Relations Division takes care of all divorce, dissolution, legal separation, and annulment filings in Adams County. It also has authority over child custody, parenting time, child support, and spousal support cases. Mandatory parenting classes are required when divorcing parents have minor children. Adams County Clerk of Courts

The Adams County Clerk of Courts is the official record keeper for the Court of Common Pleas. The Clerk's office maintains all court records including those from the General Division, Domestic Relations Division, and Probate/Juvenile Division. Every pleading, paper, and document filed in a case goes through this office. Staff handle filing, docketing, and preserving all court records.

Public access to Adams County family court records is available during regular business hours. You can ask for copies of any public court document. Standard copies cost $0.10 per page. Adams County Probate and Juvenile Court

The Adams County Probate and Juvenile Court is a division of the Court of Common Pleas that handles a wide range of family court records. The Probate side covers estate administration, guardianships for minors and adults, adoptions, marriage licenses, name changes, and mental health commitment proceedings. The Juvenile side deals with cases involving minors, including delinquency, unruly behavior, abuse, neglect, and dependency. Under Ohio law at ORC Chapter 2151, juvenile records are generally confidential and not open to the public without a court order.

Marriage licenses are issued at the Probate Court Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Both parties must show up in person with valid ID. The fee is about $50 to $75 for a marriage license. Certified copies of marriage certificates cost $2.00 each. The court also maintains estate records that go all the way back to 1797 when the county was first formed from Hamilton County. Guardianship cases need background checks and ongoing yearly reports to the court.
